Kishan Reddy Credits UoH Students' Protests for Court’s Directive to Telangana Government.

Hyderabad: The BJP welcomed the direction from the Supreme Court to the Telangana government to stop cutting trees on in the 400-acre Kancha Gachibowli. BJP Telangana president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said the apex court direction was the result of sustained protests carried out by the student community in general, particularly from the University of Hyderabad (UoH).
Kishan Reddy advised the state government to stop its adamant stand regarding forest land and unconditionally release the students who were arrested for staging protests to preserve the forest.
BJYM activists, led by its state president Sevella Mahender, launched a signature campaign and candlelight demonstration in the city with the spirit of the ‘Jal Jangal Jameen’ movement in support of UoH students. The BJYM activists, as part of their signature campaign, are meeting nature lovers, social activists, academicians, intellectuals and environmentalists.
