Telangana: Man Neglected by Son Donates Land Worth Rs. 3 Crore

Hanamkonda leader Goli Shyamsunder Reddy gifts three acres to the government in memory of his late wife

Warangal: In a dramatic and emotional move, former Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP) president of Elkathurthy mandal, Goli Shyamsunder Reddy, handed over three acres of his land to the government in Hanamkonda, after being allegedly neglected by his son following his wife’s death.

Shyamsunder submitted the property transfer documents to revenue department officials, stating that he wanted to send a message to children who fail to care for their elderly parents.

He requested that the government establish a school or an orphanage on the donated land in memory of his late wife, Vasantha. The agricultural land, located in Survey Nos. 859 and 871/2, is estimated to be worth over Rs 3 crore.

Shyamsunder, who served as MPP of Elkathurthy mandal from 2006 to 2011, lost his wife Vasantha in 2022. The couple has a son and a daughter, both well-educated and settled. His son, Ranjith Reddy, returned from the United States and settled in Hanamkonda, transferring the family residence and three acres of land, previously in his mother’s name, into his own.

Deeply hurt by his son’s indifference and lack of care, Shyamsunder decided to donate his remaining land to the government. “There is no question of giving my property to a son who doesn’t care for my well-being,” he said.
