Telangana Keen on Protecting Adivasi’s Rights: Seethakka

Nalgonda:Panchayat raj and rural development minister Dansari Anasuya, commonly known as Seethakka, has said the state government is keen on protecting the Constitutional rights of Adivasis.

She was speaking after unveiling a Komaram Bheem statue set up at central Aswaraopeta by the adivasi joint action committee in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, marking World Adivasi day on Sunday.

She said, “Adivasis are not against any caste or people of any area. They are fighting for their rights. The state government is taking measures to provide right to adivasis on forest land and ensure that the basic amenities including education, health care and employment are provided to them.”

The minister directed the officials to treat adivasis with respect when they meet them to solve their issues.

The state government has laid focus on development of agency areas. She said development works worth `1,200 crore have been taken up in Aswaraopeta.

Referring to the slogan of Komaram Bheem "Jal, Jangal, Zameen" (water, forest, land), she said Telangana state was achieved by drawing inspiration from the fights of Komaram Bheem. She cited the Telangana agitation slogan “Neeru, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu” (water, funds, jobs). The adivasis should lead a problems-free life in Telangana, she stated.

The minister exhorted Adivasi youths to utilize educational, skill development and employment opportunities being provided by the state government and rise to the highest positions.

Seethakka opined that the language, culture, tradition, festivals and lifestyle of adivasis were their own. “Our language, our attire, our culture and our traditions would bring recognition to us. Hence, there is a need to protect them.”

She promised her support for the setting up of a tribal museum at the urban park in the name of Komaram Bheem in Aswaraopeta.
