Telangana, Karnataka Agree to Resolve Krishna River Issues Amicably
Uttam Kumar Reddy also said that he informed Bose Raju that any decision Karnataka takes on projects on Krishna should not have an adverse impact on Telangana.

Hyderabad:Telangana and Karnataka have agreed to resolve amicably all issues surrounding the use of Krishna river waters, irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Monday.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, who met Karnataka’s minor irrigation minister Bose Raju at the Secretariat and discussed with him matters related to Krishna river water use between the two states, also decided that a joint committee will be set up to study the possibility of constructing two barrages on the Kolpur in Narayanpet district of Krishna, and another at Tangidi village on the Bhima river, also in the same district.
The meeting discussed various irrigation projects and drinking water needs of Telangana, which Uttam Kumar Reddy said, will be solved in a manner that will ensure the interests of both states are not affected.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also said that he informed Bose Raju that any decision Karnataka takes on projects on Krishna should not have an adverse impact on Telangana. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will be briefed on the discussions and further decisions related to Monday’s discussions will be taken, he added.
The meeting was attended by ministers Vakiti Srihari, Jupally Krishna Rao, state planning board vice-chairman G. Chinna Reddy, Raichur Lok Sabha member G. Kumar Nayak, Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi, and Raichur Rural MLA Basanna Gouwda, and MLAs from Telangana Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, Sivakumar Reddy, Vamsi Krishna and senior irrigation department officials.
