Telangana: Inter-District Cyber Fraudster Held For Fake Catering Contracts

WARANGAL: Hanamkonda police have arrested an inter-district cyber fraudster who allegedly cheated hostel owners by offering fake catering contracts, Warangal commissioner of police Swetha said on Tuesday.
According to police, the accused posed as a representative of an IT company and offered hostel owners catering contracts to supply food to employees. He allegedly collected money from them in the name of agreements, registrations and purchase of equipment and switched off his phone after receiving the payments.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Shabbir alias Kiran Kumar, was allegedly involved in several cases across different districts, including 10 cases registered under the Warangal Commissionerate.
Police identified 23 cases and six cybercrime complaints involving fraud of `36.99 lakh. Of this, `13.09 lakh in his back account has been freezed, said police.
Three mobile phones, SIM cards, bank passbooks, a cheque book and ATM cards were recovered from the accused, the CP said.
