Telangana Inter Board Introduces Aadhaar-Linked IDs to Track Junior Lecturers

The move comes as some faculty working in a private junior college are being shown on rolls in multiple colleges.

Hyderabad:In a move to curb junior lecturers from working simultaneously in multiple private institutions, the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TG BIE) created and allotted unique identification numbers to them. The Aadhaar-linked ID numbers allotted to about 41,000 lecturers working in 1,463 private junior colleges, aimed at curbing irregularities and use of fake faculty records.

The move comes as some faculty working in a private junior college are being shown on rolls in multiple colleges. Further, there were instances of the same lecturer shown as different individuals during the affiliation process for additional sections, which is against the rules.

With the unique ID system in place, the private colleges have to recruit new staff wherever required. In addition, the board can track where a lecturer is working and maintain their complete record. It also helps in monitoring exam duties showing how many teachers are assigned, who attends, and who skips the duties.

During the spot evaluation of intermediate public exams' answer scripts, even after suspension over different issues, the private faculty are enrolling for the duties from a different private college, a BIE official said, adding that there are also challenges with the same or similar name and surnames.

"With the new unique ID system, such issues will be curbed. The new system will also help during the college affiliation process as complete faculty details can now be easily verified", the official added.
