Telangana: Inter-Agency Coordination For Combating Cyber Frauds, Emerging Cyber Security Threats

DoT AP LSA highlighted that it busted 11 telecom and cybercrime setups during FY 2025-26, among the top performers in the country: Reports

HYDERABAD: City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar stressed the importance of seamless coordination between law enforcement agencies, the Union department of telecommunication (DoT), banks and telecom operators to tackle the evolving cyber threat landscape. He also spoke about the success of the recent ‘Operation Octopus 3.0,’ A enforcement initiative targeting cyberfraud ecosystems and telecom-enabled financial crimes.

He was speaking at a security conference organised by the DoT-Hyderabad (AP LSA), bringing together stakeholders to strengthen inter-agency coordination for combating cyber fraud and telecom-related crimes.

On the sidelines of the conference, Anand Khare, Director-General (Telecom), inaugurated the network security laboratory established at the DoT AP LSA. The laboratory is the first-of-its-kind facility within the DoT and has been developed for capacity building, threat analysis, and showcasing cyber security solutions.

Representatives from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) delivered a presentation on its initiatives to strengthen the financial sector’s resilience against cyberfrauds. The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) presented application of artificial intelligence in the telecom sector to enhance cyber defense capabilities.

City cybercrimes DCP Arvind Babu delivered a presentation on fraud-enabled networks – ghost SIM networks — highlighting emerging trends and investigative approaches to combat organized cybercrime.

DoT AP LSA highlighted that it busted 11 telecom and cybercrime setups during FY 2025-26, among the top performers in the country. It also reported the highest recovery of lost and stolen mobile handsets in India, at about 2.04 lakh devices.
