Telangana: Indiramma Houses Included In 22A List In Karimnagar

The land was recently included in the prohibited list without intimation to the beneficiaries: Reports

KARIMNAGAR: Land on which Indiramma houses were constructed has been included in the prohibited list under Section 22A in Gangadhara mandal and a few other areas of Karimnagar district. This includes about 45 acres of land in Gangadhara, Gattubuthkur, Garshakurthy, Kondaipalli, Burugupalli and Kachireddypalli.

The Section 22A listing has caused concern among beneficiaries, who have approached revenue officials seeking removal of the land from the 22A list. Officials reportedly assured them that the lands would be removed after the issue was brought to the notice of higher authorities.

According to the residents, the state government had allotted two guntas of land to each Dalit family in 1975-76 and constructed Indiramma houses. The land was also registered in the names of the beneficiaries.

The land was recently included in the prohibited list without intimation to the beneficiaries. On learning of the inclusion, they approached officials and submitted representations through Prajavani, the public grievances programme.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Kondaipally sarpanch Malliala Vinaysagar (Thirupathi) said three acres of land in the village had been included in the 22A list.

About 80 Dalit families were sanctioned Indiramma houses in 1975-76 and constructed them on patta land donated by a landlord from the village. The houses were later included in the 22A list without intimation to the beneficiaries, he said.

The beneficiaries approached revenue officials and submitted a representation through Prajavani. Officials acknowledged the issue and assured them that the lands would be removed from the prohibited list after taking up the matter with higher authorities, Vinaysagar said.

Gangadhara tahsildar Ambati Rajitha said assigned land would remain in the 22A list. If Indiramma houses were constructed on patta land, they would be removed from the prohibited list.

As for Kondaipally, she said records showed that the houses were located on patta land. She had written to the collector and the houses would be removed from the 22A list after receiving a response from higher officials.

Agricultural land in Choppadandi mandal have also reportedly been included in the 22A list. Lands in Gumlapur, Ragampet, Chityalapalli and Chakunta were reportedly included in the prohibited land list. The landholders have approached revenue officials and submitted representations through Prajavani.
