Telangana: HMDA Procures Trimming Machinery From Europe For ORR Maintenance
The HMDA said it was phasing out manual workers and traditional water tankers for their own safety and that of motorists: Reports

HYDERABAD: The HMDA said it had brought in machinery from Europe which could trim up to seven kilometres of greenery, for use on the 158-km Outer Ring Road. A statement said it would take 10 workers five days to do the same work.
In addition to this, an automated irrigation system has been deployed to prevent on-road safety hazards especially with workers crossing the road and endangering themselves.
The ORR maintenance has been leased to IRB Infrastructure Developers for 30 years under a toll-operate-transfer (TOT) model but the greenery development is in HMDA’s ambit.
The HMDA said it was phasing out manual workers and traditional water tankers for their own safety and that of motorists. Officials noted that there had been multiple fatal collisions on the main carriageway involving greenery workers.
