Telangana High Court Dispenses CM’s Presence in OU Case

At that time, Revanth Reddy was a TD MLA and had gone to the university to attend the Telangana Jana Jathara Sabha organised by students

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday dispensed with the appearance of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the trial court proceedings in a criminal case registered in 2016 with the Osmania University police on charges of defying prohibition orders and entering the university premises.

At that time, Revanth Reddy was a TD MLA and had gone to the university to attend the Telangana Jana Jathara Sabha organised by students. The university had granted permission to the students to hold the event and had barred the entry of outsiders. When they attended the event, the police had registered a case against Revanth Reddy and 11 others.

Seeking quashing of the proceedings in the criminal case, Revanth Reddy approached the High Court. Justice K. Lakshman heard the petition and dispensed Revanth Reddy’s appearance. However, the court directed him to attend the hearings whenever his presence was required.

Hyderabad CAT Bench Slams DoPT Over IAS Officer Cadre Allocation

Hyderabad: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Bench at Hyderabad on Thursday was irked by the Union department of personal training (DoPT) for its failure to implement orders related to the cadre allocation of IAS officer Siva Shankar Lotheti.

The CAT ordered DoPT and the governments of the two Telugu states to allocate Lotheti to the AP cadre based on his domicile. The CAT gave four weeks time to implement the order. When the DoPT challenged it, the High Court upheld the CAT order.

Despite this, the DoPT failed to implement the CAT order and the time fixed by the tribunal expired on July 31. Hence, the contempt case was registered against DoPT before the CAT by the IAS officer.

While hearing plea, the CAT censured the secretary of DoPT and said that his salary would be stopped if its order to allocate Lotheti to the AP cadre was not implemented within two weeks.
