Telangana: Health Check-Ups Essential For Police Personnel, Says CP
Free cancer screening programme inaugurated in Nizamabad: Reports

NIZAMABAD: Police commissioner P. Sai Chaitanya on Tuesday stressed the importance of regular health check-ups for police personnel, saying the nature of policing exposes them to various health risks due to irregular working hours, stress and lack of adequate rest.
He was inaugurating a free cancer screening programme for police personnel in Nizamabad at a five-day camp.
Addressing the gathering, the commissioner said cancer can be treated effectively if detected at an early stage, but many people seek medical attention only after the disease has progressed because of a lack of awareness and negligence. He said regular screening significantly improves the chances of successful treatment.
He said the camp not only provides advanced health screening but also creates awareness about cancer symptoms, preventive measures and healthy lifestyle practices.
He advised police personnel to avoid smoking, tobacco, gutka and alcohol consumption, and stressed the need to maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly, get adequate rest, manage stress and seek medical attention without ignoring even minor health issues.
“Healthy police personnel are better equipped to provide efficient services to the public. Every member of the police department should make the best use of such medical camps to safeguard their health," he said.
As part of the camp, participants underwent oral examinations, chest X-rays, random blood sugar (RBS) tests and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests, among other health screenings.
