Telangana HC Appreciates HYDRAA’s Work
Judge backs action on encroachments, urges strict rules for public spaces

Hyderabad: The High Court on Thursday lauded HYDRAA for its efforts to make Hyderabad an eco-friendly city. It said that organisations like HYDRAA were needed to protect public places, roads and parks.
Justice B. Vijayasen Reddy observed that there was a need for a strict mechanism to control violations like encroachment of public places and nalas and saw HYDRAA as an organisation that could fulfill the requirement.
The judge was dealing with a petition filed by a commercial complex building owner against HYDRAA and GHMC for the demolition of his building at Ramnagar crossroads. The Ramnagar Manemma Galli Residence Welfare Association had earlier complained to the GHMC about the road encroachment.
The GHMC had sought assistance from the HYDRAA, which had stepped in and removed the commercial complex built on the road at Jaministanpur and Ramnagar crossroads. The judge was not inclined to intervene in the matter and suggested the petitioner follow the rules.
