Telangana Govt. to Organise Women’s Week from May 25 to 31
Various programs will be organized for a week, involving rural women, Self-Help Group (SHG) members, aspiring women entrepreneurs, adolescent girls, differently-abled women, and senior citizens

Hyderabad: Telangana will observe "Women's Week" (Mahila Varotsavalu) from May 25 to 31 under the 'Praja Palana – Pragathi Plan' to further strengthen the economic, social, and political empowerment of women. Various programs will be organized for a week, involving rural women, Self-Help Group (SHG) members, aspiring women entrepreneurs, adolescent girls, differently-abled women, and senior citizens.
Through these programs, special focus will be laid on issues such as women's economic self-reliance, livelihood expansion, social security, health, safety, infrastructure development, and strengthening of women's groups.
Special meetings, awareness programs, inauguration ceremonies of infrastructure, grounding of livelihood units, and loan melas will be organised from the village level to the district level. The main attraction of this week-long festival will be the launch of the incubator program for women entrepreneurs and the grounding program for livelihood units by the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on May 29.
This program will be a key milestone towards expanding economic opportunities for women's groups across the state. Day-wise events will include the launch of 0.5 MW solar power plants across four districts of Vikarabad, Khammam, Peddapalli and Komaram Bheem Asifabad, alongside the flag-off of 450 RTC buses operated by women’s groups.
The SHG meetings, bank loan distributions and nutrition awareness programmes on the first day. The events on May 26 will focus on the identification of eligible women, elderly persons, differently-abled persons and girls and the inclusion of the remaining women into SHGs.
Formation of SHGs for differently-abled persons and elderly women will be carried out. This day will also include mock parliament sessions with teenage girls. On May 28, infrastructure development programs, including foundation stone laying ceremonies for women’s group buildings, work sheds and women’s warehouses, along with bhoomi puja and inauguration of development works, will be conducted across the state.
Mandal-level loan melas, financial assistance through bank linkage, support through the Community Enterprise Fund, Distribution of battery-operated vehicles to differently-abled persons, bhoomi puja for agricultural processing units, shade nets and construction of 185 warehouses, distribution of bicycles to teenage girls, special wing programs for women’s safety and distribution of Indiramma sarees in urban areas are some of the other events included in the week-long celebration.
