Telangana Govt Releases Rs 365.75 Cr towards Pending Scholarship Dues
The backlog inherited from the previous BRS government was cleared in a single tranche

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday released ₹365.75 crore towards clearing long-pending scholarship dues of students residing in welfare hostels, bringing relief to thousands of beneficiaries. The backlog inherited from the previous BRS government was cleared in a single tranche.
Addressing officials during a review meeting held at Praja Bhavan, Bhatti said the Congress government was committed to safeguarding the interests of students from the BC, SC and ST communities and ensuring that financial hurdles did not disrupt their education. He said that despite fiscal pressures, the government would never compromise on educational support, describing education as the most effective instrument for achieving lasting and inclusive social transformation.
Of the total, ₹21.62 crore was allocated to the Backward Classes welfare department, ₹191.63 crore to the Scheduled Castes welfare department, and ₹152.59 crore to the tribal welfare department.
During the meeting, Bhatti reviewed the status of disbursements and directed officials to ensure that future scholarships are released in time. He also stressed the need for close coordination between the finance and welfare departments to streamline fund flow mechanisms.
Finance principal secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, along with senior officials from the welfare departments, attended the meeting and briefed the Deputy Chief Minister on procedural aspects and timelines for crediting the amounts to beneficiaries’ accounts.
