Telangana Govt Ratifies 86-Acre Eco-Town Land for GHMC Solid Waste Management Facility

The government noted that the Commissioner of GHMC had sought ratification of the permission granted by the Special Officer, CURE, to HiMSW for establishing the solid waste management facility on the site.

Hyderabad: The government has ratified the transfer of 86 acres of land at Siddapur in Kothur mandal of Rangareddy district to the GHMC to establish a solid waste management (SWM) facility as part of the proposed Siddapur eco-town project.

The government also approved the action of the special officer, Centre for Urban Resource Excellence (CURE), in permitting Hyderabad Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management Limited (HiMSW) to establish the SWM facility on the land in accordance with the Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management (IMSWM) Project concession agreement and applicable rules.

The eco-town project is being developed under the friendship and co-operation agreement between the state government and Kitakyushu of Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan, with the objective of promoting a circular economy and achieving net zero pollution goals.

The GHMC had initially sought the transfer of 150 acres for the project. Subsequently, the industries and commerce department permitted the TGIIC to transfer 86 acres free of cost in Survey No.s 252, 278 and 361 of Siddapur to GHMC. Advance possession of the land was handed over to GHMC on February 11, 2026.

The government noted that the Commissioner of GHMC had sought ratification of the permission granted by the Special Officer, CURE, to HiMSW for establishing the solid waste management facility on the site. After examining the proposal, the government approved the action and directed the GHMC Commissioner to take further necessary steps for implementation.
