Telangana govt hits Rs 3,500 cr STT GDC India jackpot

Hyderabad: A leading provider of data centre solutions in Singapore signed a MoU with the Telangana government with an investment of Rs 3,500 crore, on the second day of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to Singapore.
The MoU was signed in the presence of the industries and IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu at the STT GDC office in Singapore.
The upcoming campus will feature cutting-edge technologies with targeted capacity of up to 100 MW, along with ample scalability for future growth, making it one of the largest data centre projects in the country.
The project reaffirms the firm’s commitment to support India’s digital transformation and highlights Telangana’s solidification as a preferred destination for global technology infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, STT GDC group chief executive officer Bruno Lopez said that the project in Hyderabad would increase their presence in the state. With its progressive policies, strong infrastructure, and promotion of technological innovation, Telangana has been displaying leadership qualities as regards long-term digital initiatives.
“This collaboration demonstrates our common goal of promoting economic expansion, generating employment, and constructing a sustainable digital future,” he said.
Sridhar Babu expressed confidence in Hyderabad’s emergence as a major data hub for the world and there was no stopping ‘Telangana Rising’. STT GDC’s decision to invest in Telangana is a testament to the state’s robust ecosystem and forward-thinking policies. "We are confident that Hyderabad will play a significant role in the ongoing AI-led digital transformation across the globe,” he said.
STT GDC India’s expansion investment in Telangana is part of its broader vision to achieve a design capacity of 1 GW across India in the next decade, with a decadal investment outlook of approximately $3.2 billion.
The company currently operates a data centre in Hitec City. It is a majority-owned subsidiary of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Singapore. It currently manages one of the largest white space areas, with more than 390 MW of critical IT load spread across 30 facilities, including facilities under development, across 10 cities in India.
Present at the event were special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation vice chairman and managing director.
