Telangana Govt Approves 140 Extra Vehicles and DRF to beef up HYDRAA
Expanded fleet to boost emergency, rescue and monsoon operations across Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The state government has approved the purchase of 140 additional vehicles and disaster response equipment for HYDRAA to strengthen its emergency operations across the city. The approval was issued through a government order by the metropolitan area and urban development (MA&UD) Department on Monday, after HYDRAA informed the government that its existing fleet was no longer sufficient to meet growing operational needs.
HYDRAA’s responsibilities have increased due to the expansion of its jurisdiction, a rise in the number of Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams, the creation of new asset protection zones and taking up of monsoon emergency works. The agency said additional vehicles and equipment were necessary for disaster response, rescue operations and other official duties.
The government had earlier allowed HYDRAA to procure 50 per cent of the proposed vehicles and equipment in the first phase. HYDRAA reported that these purchases had been completed following the prescribed procedures.
The government has now permitted the procurement of 21 DRF trucks, 54 MUVs for teams, 37 two-wheeler motorcycles, two higher-end multi-purpose vehicles (MPV), an MPV, two troop carrier vans, two buses and 21 sets of DRF equipment.
Officials said the additional resources would help HYDRAA respond more quickly to emergencies such as floods, heavy rains and rescue operations. The new vehicles are also expected to improve coordination among field teams and strengthen disaster preparedness in Hyderabad.
