Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday said the state government has accorded a top priority to Tollywood and asked the industry elders to encourage young talent and expand the industry further in the state.
Speaking after announcing a cash award of Rs.1 crore to city-based Tollywood singer Rahul Sipligunj, who sang the Oscar award-winning song ‘Naatu Naatu’ in RRR, Revanth Reddy said called Sipligunj — a resident of the Old City — a pioneer for the youth of Telangana, who rose in his career with his own efforts and won international honours.
During a programme held recently in the city, the Chief Minister had promised to announce a cash reward for Sipligunj and directed Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who was present on the occasion, to allocate the funds.
Before the 2023 Assembly elections, Revanth Reddy, as the TPCC president, announced financial assistance of Rs.10 lakh to Sipligunj and promised to enhance the reward to Rs.1 crore, if the Congress came to power.
