Telangana gets mere Rs 1 cr hike in railway budget this year

Answering questions from the media, Vaishnaw listed the ongoing development projects and said Telangana had been leading in the installation of Kavach, the indigenously developed train anti-collision syste, with the centre of excellence located at Secunderabad. Currently, 1,465 km of track has been equipped with Kavach in the SCR jurisdiction and the trials for the installation of the latest version 4.0 are underway.” He assured that nationwide deployment of Kavach technology will be completed within six years.
SCR general manager Arun Kumar Jain addressed queries over the absence of reintroduced MMTS services despite the development of Cherlapalli terminal. When questioned about the possibility of a direct train from Hyderabad to Kashmir, Vaishnaw replied, “It is too soon to answer.”
Vaishnaw also highlighted that `41,677 crore was being invested in rail development projects in Telangana, noting that the state’s railway network is now “100 per cent electrified.” “Five Vande Bharat trains are being operated in Telangana covering seven districts and having nine stoppages. The redevelopment of 40 railway stations has been taken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,” he stated.
The minister announced that 50 new Namo Bharat trains, 200 Vande Bharat trains, and 100 new Amrit Bharat trains have been approved, with their operations to be announced in due course. Indian Railways is also undertaking the replacement of 7,000 km of old tracks, with plans to upgrade key sections for speeds of up to 160 kmph, other routes for 130 kmph, and the entire network for 100 kmph.
