Telangana Forms Panel to Honour Statehood Movement Protagonists
To identify ‘Telangana Udyamakarulu’ and make appropriate recommendations to recognize and honour their contributions and sacrifices, a committee with Keshava Rao as it Chairman was formed
Hyderabad: The State government has constituted a six-member team headed by Advisor to Government (Public Relations and Education) Dr. K Keshava Rao to identify 'Telangana Udyamakarulu' (Telangana Protagonists) and make appropriate recommendations to recognize and honour their contributions and sacrifices. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao issued an order to this effect on Friday.
The Telangana State was formed after a prolonged, multi-phase agitation. Some activists were martyred during the movement, while few others suffered physical impairment. Many were implicated in cases and incarcerated. There has been a longstanding demand to acknowledge and honour the contributions of ‘Telangana Udyamakarulu’ involved in various phases of the movement, the order said.

BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MLC Professor M Kodandaram, MLC Addanki Dayakar, former MLC S. Ramulu Naik and Mothe Shoban Reddy will be members in the committee
The Secretary to Government (Poll), General Administration Department (GAD) shall be the Convenor of the Committee.
The terms of reference of the committee would be evolve and establish criteria for identification of “Telangana Udyamakarulu” and identifying and preparing the list of "Telangana Udyamakarulu” as per the evolved criteria apart from making recommendations regarding the nature of recognitions, honours, courtesies and facilities to be extended to the said “Telangana Udyamakarulu".
The committee shall call officers, call for information and hold meetings for this purpose. The committee can also call such other persons and officers deemed fit for conducting its proceedings.
It shall submit its report and recommendations to the government expeditiously. All the officers and secretaries shall extend necessary cooperation as required by the committee. The GAD is requested to take necessary action accordingly.
