WARANGAL: Dasarapu Sukrutha, a young fencer from Mahbubabad district, has brought laurels to Telangana by winning a bronze medal at the 69th National School Games. Competing in the Under-14 Girls’ Épée category, Sukrutha secured a podium finish at the national tournament held in the last week of December at Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra.
Mahbubabad district superintendent of police Shabarish congratulated Sukrutha when she met him at his office and praised her achievement. Sukrutha is the daughter of Dasarapu Chandrakanth, who serves as Confidential Clerk to the SP. A Class VI student at a private school, her performance at the national level has been hailed as an inspiration for students across the district.
Interacting with Sukrutha, the SP said her success reflected the importance of discipline and early training in sports. He noted that developing an interest in sports at a young age helps achieve significant milestones and urged students to give equal importance to academics and sports. Time management and self-confidence, he said, are crucial for achieving success at higher levels.
The SP also commended Sukrutha’s father for his constant encouragement and support, observing that parental backing plays a vital role in a child’s success, particularly in specialised sports like fencing. He expressed hope that Sukrutha would go on to represent India at the international level in the future.
