Telangana Employees JAC To Observe ‘CPS Betrayal Day’ On Sept 1; Chalo Hyderabad On Sept 6
Telangana Employees JAC will protest against CPS on September 1 and hold Chalo Hyderabad on September 6 seeking OPS restoration, PRC and DA dues.
The Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) has decided to observe September 1 as "CPS Betrayal Day" and organise protests across the state demanding abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The JAC will also organise “Chalo Hyderabad” on September 6 and hold an "Employees’ Sankalpa Sabha" at the Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, to press for the implementation of the pending Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations and payment of pending Dearness Allowances (DA) instalments.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the constituent associations of the Telangana Employees JAC held on Saturday, where the participants discussed the problems being faced by employees, pending demands and the action plan for September.
JAC chairman V. Lachi Reddy and secretary-general Vodnala Rajasekhar said that as part of the September 1 programme, the JAC had called upon employees to wear black badges and stage protests in front of all government offices during lunchtime. The JAC leaders said the programme was aimed at highlighting their opposition to the CPS and mounting pressure on the state government to scrap the CPS and restore the OPS for employees.
The JAC also decided to intensify its agitation over the pending PRC and payment of DA arrears. As part of this programme, employees from across Telangana will be mobilised for Chalo Hyderabad on September 6, followed by the Employees’ Sankalpa Sabha at the Exhibition Grounds. The JAC said the public meeting would be used to reiterate its demands and chalk out further action if the government failed to address the pending issues.
