Telangana Electoral Roll Revision: BLOs to Begin Door-to-Door Visits From Thursday

The BLOs will carry two enumeration forms for each voter, one of which will be given to the voter as an acknowledgement, and guide the voter in filling them. The voter will have to file the relevant details.

Hyderabad: Booth-level officers (BLOs) will visit houses — at least thrice — from Thursday to distribute and collect enumeration forms over the next month as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral roll. Voters don’t need to provide any documents at this stage.

The BLOs will carry two enumeration forms for each voter, one of which will be given to the voter as an acknowledgement, and guide the voter in filling them. The voter will have to file the relevant details.

Voters don’t have to return the filled-in enumeration form immediately, they can do in the subsequent visit of the BLO. The BLO will approach the house a third time of it is locked in the earlier visit. BLOs were given a week for distribution of the forms and directed to collect them till July 24 day.

There are an estimated 3.4 crore voters in the state according to the electoral roll of the 2024 Lok Sabha election. The SIR process is expected to end on October 1 with the publication of the electoral roll.

If a voter fails to receive the form, he or she can contact the BLO either over the phone using the contact number available on https://ceotelangana.nic.in or through the 'Book a call' with BLO option, which is available on the website https://voters.eci.gov.in or ECINET App.

According to officials, a total of 35,985 BLOs, apart from 3,596 BLO supervisors, 882 assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs), 119 EROs and 33 district election officers (DEOs) are being deployed across the state for smooth conduct of the phase.

“Each of the BLO will be covering not more than 1,200 voters within a two-km radius. EROs and district collectors are overseeing the distribution of forms. Voters in Hyderabad district will get English forms, while the rest of Telangana will get Telugu forms,” informed a higher official.

Each of the recognised political parties has deployed booth level agent (BLA)s, totalling nearly 49,000, to coordinate with BLOs on the ground. Officials informed that each BLA can submit up to 50 enumeration forms a day, after scrutinising the voters. BLAs are recognised by the EC and encouraged to take an active part and will coordinate during field visits.
