Telangana Education Push Targets School Dropouts, Non-Literate Adults

HYDERABAD: Officials from the education department, Telangana Open School Society (TOSS), ULLAS, Samagra Shiksha, SERP, MEPMA and two non-profit organisations met here on Friday to increase enrollment among school dropouts, failed candidates and non-literate adults, while discussing simpler admissions and learner support.
Education secretary Yogita Rana called for “close coordination” among departments to identify and motivate dropouts and failed candidates to join TOSS and complete SSC or Intermediate education. She also asked officials to identify and enrol non-literate persons under the ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) adult education programme.
Dr Naveen Nicolas said part-time instructors in schools would receive orientation to guide students on the vocational education syllabus. He also asked officials to “simplify the online admission process”.
