Telangana: Dissent Brews In Asifabad Congress

The protest was orchestrated by a section of leaders within the party as part of a conspiracy against her leadership: Atram Suguna

ADILABAD: Differences within the Congress in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district came to the fore on Wednesday as a section of party leaders and workers staged a protest against District Congress Committee (DCC) president Atram Suguna at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad.

The protesters, including former sarpanches, MPTCs and mandal Congress presidents, alleged that Suguna, whom they described as a non-local, was taking unilateral decisions without consulting senior party leaders.

They also alleged that loyal party workers were being ignored in the appointment of district and mandal committee office-bearers, while preference was being given to leaders who had recently joined the Congress.

The dissident leaders submitted a memorandum to rural development minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), the office of TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, and the office of In-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao, seeking Suguna's removal as DCC president.

Responding to the allegations, Atram Suguna claimed the protest was orchestrated by a section of leaders within the party as part of a conspiracy against her leadership.
