Telangana CS Inspects Progress Of Major Infra Works In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao on Sunday inspected the progress of major infrastructure works in the city.

Rao’s visit was to review the progress of crucial projects for the city’s urban transformation. The inspection was a comprehensive review of the ongoing development works ensuring the projects are completed as per plan which are crucial for the city’s urban infrastructure.

Rao inspected the Foot-over-Bridge (FoBs) being built at Banjara Hills which is nearing completion and took stock of the ongoing work there. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Secretary K Ilambarthi informed the Chief Secretary that 42 FoBs are at functional stage in different parts of the city while survey is being done for taking up construction of FoBs in other places as well.

The FoBs are being built to ensure pedestrian safety, ease traffic flow and also to enhance urban aesthetics and accessibility through modern architectural elements.

Later, Rao inspected the ongoing works of road widening from MG Bus Station to Chandrayangutta on Old City for the extension of metro rail which is being taken up at a cost of Rs.2,741 crore. The Metro Rail Managing Director informed him that the land acquisition process for road widening and dismantling of affected properties which were already acquired was under progress.

The Chief Secretary also inspected the conservation, restoration and repair works of Khursheed Jah Devdi at Hussaini Alam and Charminar. He also inspected the ongoing works at Moosarambagh flyover, Falaknuma Road Over bridge and Sewerage Treatment Plant at Amberpet.

While inspecting various works, he directed the officials concerned to expedite the pace of work for timely completion while ensuring the quality parameters of each work are strictly adhered to. He was accompanied by GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan, HMDA Commissioner Sarfraz Ahmed, HMWS&SB MD K Ashok Reddy and officials of various civic departments.
