Telangana Crackdown on Dharani Portal Irregularities Intensifies; Unique 'Bhudhar' ID System Announced
The minister said the government would conduct a comprehensive investigation into every land transaction under the former Dharani portal and the Bhu Bharati system currently in use.
Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Saturday said that the state government had intensified its crackdown on largescale land irregularities that took place through the erstwhile Dharani portal during the previous BRS regime. He said the government would soon initiate fast-track inquiries and take stringent action against all those found responsible for land-related fraud.
Speaking to the media here, the minister said the government would conduct a comprehensive investigation into every land transaction under the former Dharani portal and the Bhu Bharati system currently in use.
Srinivas Reddy said the government had not added a single square inch of land to the prohibited list since assuming office. Instead, it was carrying out a thorough review of the list created earlier to rectify anomalies.
He revealed that the re-survey process had so far been completed in 276 villages across the state and announced that every survey number would soon be assigned a unique "Bhudhar" identification number, on the lines of Aadhaar, to ensure transparent and tamper-proof land records.
Highlighting the impact of the recent revision in market value of land, the minister said the exercise had led to a 10 to 20 per cent increase in registration revenue, while the number of property registrations had also witnessed a significant rise. He said the stamps and registrations department was expected to generate nearly `18,000 crore in 2026-27.
