Telangana Congress Stage Protests Demands KCR Attend Assembly Sessions

Telangana Congress leaders staged a protest against BRS chief KCR, accusing him of remaining away from public and legislative activities and demanding that he attend Assembly sessions or resign.

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders on Friday staged a protest against former Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), accusing him of remaining away from public and legislative activities and demanding that he attend Assembly sessions or resign as Leader of the Opposition. They took out a protest march from the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, to Gun Park.

As part of the protest, the Congress leaders displayed a large poster showing KCR in a 'Kumbhakarna' getup. They used the name “Kumbhakarna” to target KCR, saying “K” stands for Kumbhakarna, “C” for Chandrashekar and “R” for Rao. The Congress leaders also alleged that KCR had been drawing a salary while enjoying high security and staying at his farmhouse.

Congress leader and Khairatabad District Congress Committee (DCC) President Motha Rohit said KCR had a responsibility to represent the people as Leader of the Opposition. He said, “The Congress government has completed 1000 days in office, and the honourable Leader of the Opposition, KCR is not been seen in Telangana for the past 1000 days. The people of Telangana have given him the responsible position of Leader of the Opposition. But KCR, for the past thousand days, has not come out. He is sleeping in his farmhouse. We are demanding that he come out. He has to represent the people of Telangana.”

Rohit further alleged that KCR and his son KT Rama Rao had failed to fulfil their promises during their 10 years in power and accused the former Chief Minister of corruption. He said, “For the past 12 years, 10 years when he was the Chief Minister, he has resorted to corruption. And after exorbitantly taking lakhs of crores of rupees of Telangana's money, he and his son are resting peacefully. So, we are demanding that the leader of the opposition at least come out now and represent the people. We, as a responsible government, may see in every state the opposition organising protests against the government. But in Telangana, we, as part of the government, are against the opposition party because the opposition party is not at all playing the role of a responsible opposition.
“The Congress leader also defended the performance of the Revanth Reddy-led government, saying it had fulfilled most of its promises in the two-and-a-half years since coming to power and would complete the remaining commitments.
