Telangana: Congress Cadres Ignore CM’s Call To Undertake Rallies Against KCR On First Day

HYDERABAD: Congress cadres have largely ignored Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s call for statewide protests from Wednesday, demanding the immediate resignation of BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao as Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly.
Apart from minor activities in Gajwel and Siddipet, no major protests were held across the state on the first day of the schedule announced by the party. On August 31, while inaugurating the Moosarambagh high-level bridge, the Chief Minister launched a direct political offensive against KCR as his government completed 1,000 days in office.
Revanth Reddy publicly accused Rao of drawing ₹1.24 crore in salary and said the state had spent ₹21 crore on his security and bullet-proof vehicles during this period, despite his rarely attending the legislature.
He urged Congress workers, particularly members of the youth wings, to take to the streets from September 1 to 6, with agitations, dharnas and two-wheeler rallies planned at all mandal and district headquarters across Telangana. The protests will culminate in a mass demonstration at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park in Hyderabad on September 6.
According to party sources, the response to the Chief Minister’s call was poor as the decision was taken without consulting the wider party leadership or committees such as the Political Affairs Committee (PAC).
