Revanth Thanks Centre for PMAY-G Houses, Seeks More for Telangana

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday thanked Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the sanction of two lakh houses to the state under PMAY-G scheme in the first installment and sought over 9.56 lakh more houses. The Chief Minister in July this year urged Chouhan to sanction houses to 11,56,915 eligible families in rural areas of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).
Reddy, who met the union minister here, urged that the remaining 9.56 lakh houses also be sanctioned, an official release said.
Also, the Chief Minister explained the rainfall deficit in the state due to the impact of El Nino and a rise in electricity consumption in the agriculture sector. Revanth Reddy sought the Centre's cooperation to deal with the impact of El Nino as well, the release added.
In view of El Nino's influence, the state government is encouraging farmers to take up alternative crops, and plans are in place to avoid a shortage of water and electricity.
He also said that the state government is providing a bonus of Rs 500 over and above the MSP to farmers who cultivate fine variety paddy and is also distributing fine variety rice to the poor through PDS shops.
