Telangana CID Nabs Anesthesiologist in Human Organ Trafficking Busted in Saroornagar
The CID earlier arrested 19 persons in the case

Hyderabad: The Telangana CID has arrested an anesthesiologist in connection with an inter-state human organ trafficking busted in a multi-specialty hospital at Saroornagar in April 2025.
Based on a complaint from the Deputy Director of Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) in Ranga Reddy district, a criminal case was registered under various Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act-1994, at Saroornagar police station. The case was transferred to the CID for further investigation on April 24, 2025.
Earlier, 19 accused persons were arrested and on Friday the CID arrested Dr. Ruttala Venkata Rama Santosh Naidu, 36, of Ayyappanagar in Visakhapatnam (Urban) Industrial Estate. He is an accused 24 in the case.
The CID Additional Director General of Police, Charu Sinha, in a statement, said that Santosh was apprehended by special team of CID at Eluru in Andhra Pradesh and was produced before the court in LB Nagar after which the court remanded him to judicial custody.
Santosh in connivance with other accused - Dr. Rajashekar and Dr. Avinash and others were involved in illegal kidney transplantation surgeries done at Alakananda, Janani and Aruna hospitals in Hyderabad. He used to give anesthesia to donors and recipients who had undergone surgeries in the process of illegal kidney transplantations.
The prime accused Pamulapati Pavan Kumar alias Pavan would engage Santosh from Visakhapatnam for the purpose of anesthesia whenever they had scheduled for illegal kidney transplantation surgeries. Santosh used to take Rs.2.5 lakh in cash from Pavan for each illegal kidney transplantation surgery. Efforts were in progress to apprehend other absconding accused persons, she explained.
