Telangana: Christians Highlight Neglect, Seeks Government Support

Christian women from across Telangana met minority welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, calling for a dedicated welfare fund for Christian women’s self-help groups and more inclusive representation in government-nominated posts.

Hyderabad: A delegation of Christian women from across Telangana met minority welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, calling for a dedicated welfare fund for Christian women’s self-help groups and more inclusive representation in government-nominated posts.

The women said Christian communities, particularly women, have remained underrepresented in welfare programmes despite their active participation in grassroots economic activities. They demanded that the state create a targeted fund in proportion to the community’s population, similar to those extended to other minority groups.

The delegation was organised under the Telangana Christian & Pastors Association (TUCPA) and included members from multiple districts. They also appealed for appointments of Christian representatives to positions such as chairperson, vice chairman and board-level posts, which they said have historically excluded the community. They expressed hope that the government would act to address long-standing gaps in visibility and participation for Christian citizens in Telangana.
