Officials told to complete the process with transparency and accuracy, and ensure all eligible voters are included in the final list
Adilabad:Telangana’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudarshan Reddy on Wednesday directed the officials to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the final voters list and, as per rules, remove the names of voters who are found dead or permanently shifted to other places.
He said the voters list is crucial in the election process and officials should follow transparency and accuracy in the process of SIR.
The CEO asked the officials to complete the process of the special intensive revision (SIR) with transparency and without giving scope for mistakes.
Along with the Adilabad collector Rajarshi Shah, Sudarshan Reddy inspected the process of SIR in the Ghotkuri village in Tamsi mandal, Pippalkoti in Bheempur mandal, the teacher training college in housing board colony and polling booths in government high school in Sanjaynagar colony. There, BLOs were conducting camps and receiving documents from the voters who received notices in the Adilabad town.
Sudarshan Reddy interacted with the BLOs and voters in the respective gram panchayats. He verified the applications, survey forms and voter lists.
He inquired with the BLOs about the new applications received for the enrollment of fresh voters and instructed them to correct the mistakes in voters' names, age and address as per the rules.
The CEO said the BLOs should do additions and deletions of voters after verifying the information they collected during the household survey and added that they have been collecting the information required by verifying the documents at the field level.
He said the tehsildars give BLOs guidance as to what to do if documents are not available with the voter.The CEO asked the officials to ensure that youths who have completed 18 years enrolled their names as new voters. Along with the collector Bhavesh Mishra, Sudarshan Reddy also inspected the process of the SIR in Nirmal.
