Telangana: Case Filed Against Dog Catchers Over Relocation Of 50 Dogs

HYDERABAD: Suryapet police have registered a case against unidentified dog catchers over the alleged capture and abandonment of about 50 community dogs from Mellacheruvu village.
Mellacheruvu police registered an FIR on July 25 after receiving a complaint from Adulapuram Goutham, cruelty prevention manager at the Stray Animal Foundation of India (SAFI) that the animals were taken away in a vehicle and left in a forest or another unknown place and the accused are identified only as “Dog Catchers.”
The complaint said the dogs were captured at about 1.30 pm and transported in a vehicle and left them without food, water, shelter or veterinary care, which exposed them to starvation, dehydration, injuries, attacks by wild animals and possible death.
Goutham described the alleged relocation as “extreme cruelty.”
