Telangana Cabinet Approves Rs.200 Cr to Turn 18,766 Hyderabad Autos Electric
Under the scheme, eligible auto drivers will be provided a maximum subsidy of Rs.1.50 lakh per vehicle
Hyderabad: The Telangana cabinet has taken a key decision to control pollution within the Core Urban Region and transform Hyderabad into a green city.
There are currently 18,766 petrol and diesel autorickshaws in Hyderabad. The State cabinet has approved the implementation of Telangana Auto Rickshaw Electric Conversion Scheme at a cost of Rs.200 crore to convert these into EVs (electric vehicles).
Under this scheme, eligible auto drivers will be provided a maximum subsidy of Rs.1.50 lakh per vehicle. The scheme will provide an opportunity either to install an electric kit in the existing auto or scrap the old vehicle and purchase a new electric auto.
The cabinet has decided to extend the deadline for applications under the HILT policy, which is intended to relocate polluting industries within Hyderabad City limits to the city outskirts, by another three months. Based on requests from applicants, an opportunity has been provided to apply until October 31.
The cabinet has approved an estimated cost of Rs.2,100 crore for Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal Lift Irrigation Phase-II works. With this, irrigation water for nearly one lakh acres, as well as drinking water and water for industrial needs in the region, will be supplied through this lift irrigation project.
The cabinet has approved the appointment of a consultant to study increasing the capacity of the Gudem Doddi Pumped Storage Project from 1.19 TMC to 15 TMC, along with studying solar power generation.
As was held last year, the Cabinet has also decided to conduct Telangana Rising Global Summit 2.0 this year. It has tentatively decided to hold the summit on December 7, 8, and 9. It has decided to constitute special committees for conducting the summit, along with a sub-committee under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Mallu Vikramarka and Ministers D Sridhar Babu, B Uttam Kumar Reddy, and G Vivek Venkataswamy.
As the Telangana Rising 2047 vision was unveiled last year, this time the summit has been approved with the Invest Telangana theme. On this occasion, the Future City Plan will be unveiled.
