Telangana: BJP Condemns Minister’s Remark

BJP chief spokesperson N.V. Subhash said the minister’s remark was especially offensive as it came during Shravan Maas, a holy month during which millions of devotees undertake the Kanwar Yatra carrying the kamandals

Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP condemned transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s reported comment threatening to “break the Kamandal,” a sacred object in Hindu tradition associated with deities like Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma.

State BJP chief spokesperson N.V. Subhash described the remark as a “blatant attack on the religious sentiments of the Hindu majority” and labelled it “hate speech” intended to provoke communal unrest and insult sacred symbols.

He said the minister’s remark was especially offensive as it came during Shravan Maas, a holy month during which millions of devotees undertake the Kanwar Yatra carrying the kamandals.

He accused the Congress of a continued pattern of disrespect towards Hindu beliefs, citing past references to “saffron terror” and alleged insults to Lord Rama. He demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress and urged the party to clarify whether the statement reflected its official stand.
