Social Boycott: BC Commission Takes Serious View, To Visit Nizamabad On 7th

The Telangana Backward Classes (BC) Commission has taken a serious view of an alleged social boycott in Thallarampur village, Yergatla mandal, Nizamabad district.

Nizamabad: The Telangana Backward Classes (BC) Commission has taken a serious view of an alleged social boycott in Thallarampur village, Yergatla mandal, Nizamabad district. In September, certain groups in the village reportedly ostracized 39 Goud (BC) families and 10 Scheduled Caste (SC) families.
The Commission will visit Nizamabad on the 7th of this month to examine how Village Development Committees (VDCs) are functioning. It will also hold a special discussion with local residents on the issue.
According to reports, the affected families alleged that the VDCs imposed the boycott and warned other villagers against interacting with them. They said villagers had stopped speaking to them and shopkeepers were refusing to sell them essential commodities. The families met Nizamabad Police Commissioner P. Sai Chaitanya and submitted a complaint seeking protection and action against those responsible.
The Commission has found that similar incidents occur frequently in the district. It will direct that victims be allowed to present their complaints before it in person. Accordingly, the Police Commissioner has instructed the concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure that victims attend the hearing.
The Commission held a review meeting with the District Collector and the Police Commissioner. It also held a separate review with the Nizamabad District BC Welfare Officer. During these meetings, it discussed preventive measures to curb social boycotts.
The Commission will meet victims from 23 areas in Nizamabad. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. on the 7th at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC).
