Sridhar Babu Pitches Telangana to UAE Investors

The UAE delegation included senior officials such as the minister of economy and tourism Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri and Investopia CEO Dr Jean Fares.

Hyderabad: Telangana is laying out an ambitious vision to become a $3 trillion economy by 2047, with comprehensive plans to establish the state as a premier destination for global investment, said IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. The state’s commitment to this long-term goal was spotlighted on Thursday at the “Investopia Global” summit, a high-profile international event jointly organised by the governments of Telangana and the UAE at HICC.

Sridhar Babu used the platform to extend a firm invitation to UAE-based industrialists to partner in Telangana’s growth journey. “Though geographically small, Telangana aims high and delivers. Our state has emerged as a model for inclusive growth and rapid development,” he said.

“Numbers back Telangana’s economic momentum. The state’s GSDP grew by 8.2 per cent in 2024–25, surpassing the national average of 7.6 per cent. Telangana now contributes over 5 per cent to India’s overall GDP. In the last 18 months alone, the state attracted more than `3.2 lakh crore in fresh investments, signalling sustained investor confidence,” the minister explained.

Exports to the UAE surged 2.5 times in 2024–25, led by key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, aerospace, digital services and food processing. Notably, UAE-based groups including Lulu Group, DP World and NAFFCO have already invested in Telangana, laying the groundwork for deeper bilateral engagement.

The minister also outlined the state's expansive infrastructural roadmap. This includes the development of dry ports, multimodal logistics parks and industrial corridors, along with pioneering initiatives such as net-zero industrial parks, electric vehicle zones and green logistics hubs.

Upcoming projects like the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and Metro Phase 2 are expected to further catalyse industrial activity. Additionally, the ongoing development of “Future City” to global standards is set to transform Telangana into a global hub for FinTech, Climate Tech and Smart Mobility. The state's rapid growth in data centres, Global Capability Centres, AI labs and aerospace clusters underscores its emergence as a tech powerhouse.

Calling the summit “not just an investment meeting but a reunion of old friends and a launchpad for the future,” Sridhar Babu reaffirmed Telangana’s commitment to its core values—time, trust and transformation. He highlighted broad opportunities for investment across AI, life sciences, green hydrogen, renewable energy, logistics, electric vehicles, healthcare and wellness.
