Telangana: Athletes Urged To Make Use Of Sports Facilities

HANAMKONDA: The government is taking special measures to develop Hanumakonda into a major sports hub with international-standard infrastructure for athletes, said Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy and Hanumakonda District Collector Chahat Bajpai.
On National Sports Day, Reddy and Bajpai inaugurated the renovated badminton indoor stadium and swimming pool at the JNS complex in Hanamkonda on Saturday.
Reddy said the state government was giving equal priority to sports, education and healthcare. He urged athletes to make effective use of the upgraded facilities and aim for success at national and international levels.
He said the Warangal region had produced several talented sportspersons and that the government was working to provide them with greater encouragement and opportunities. Steps were also being taken to construct a dedicated building for the sports school, he added.
Bajpai said the indoor stadium and swimming pool at JNS had been upgraded and urged athletes to treat the facilities as their own and help maintain them.
She said all necessary facilities were being provided to students of the sports school and that a proposal for a separate building had been submitted to the government. She expressed hope that young athletes would progress beyond district and state-level competitions and establish themselves at national and international levels.
