Telangana Assembly Session From Aug. 30

The Cabinet which is scheduled to meet on August 29 will take a decision on date and duration of the session

Hyderabad: The Monsoon Session of Telangana Legislative Assembly is likely to begin on August 30. The Cabinet which is scheduled to meet on August 29 will take a decision on date and duration of the session.

The session would be wrapped before the Ganesh immersion on September 6, if the government decides to keep it short, or there may be a recess and the House would reconvene after immersion if opts for a session of 10 or more days.
The Cabinet is also likely to pass a resolution recommending to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to appoint Prof. M. Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan under the Governor’s quota. The two seats fell vacant following the Supreme Court’s recent order quashing their earlier appointment.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had announced that the government would make Prof. Kodandaram an MLC within 15 days, at a function held in Osmania Univeristy on Monday.
The session is expected to be stormy with the government deciding to table the Justice P.C. Ghose panel report on the corruption-ridden Kaleswharam lift irrigation scheme. Citing the report, the ruling party has been levelling allegations against BRS supremo K. Chandrashekar Rao and former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao for providing lopsided designs and wrong selection of project sites besides largescale corruption which it said had rendered the entire project useless.
The government also gave a commitment to the High Court that it would debate the Ghose commission report extensively in the Assembly and would not initiate any action on the report before the debate.
