Telangana: Alampur’s Historic Nava Brahma Temples to Undergo Major Restoration Work

HYDERABAD: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)-protected Nava Brahma group of temples in Alampur, Gadwal district, is set to undergo conservation works following the recent completion of visitor facilities development. The works include water tightening of temples' roofs using traditional methods. The restoration will be carried out under the supervision of the superintending archaeologist, ASI-Hyderabad circle.
The Lord Venkateswara Charitable and Religious Trust known for restoration of various ancient temples at Srikalahasti, Simhachalam, Srisailam and of TTD in Andhra Pradesh will take up the works after the inspection on Monday.
Dr K. Muniratnam Reddy, director (epigraphy), ASI, said that he had received information from Union minister G. Kishan Reddy a few days ago regarding the restoration works. After reviewing its conservation work, the trust had been invited to carry out the restoration at Alampur, he said, adding that any corporate organisation could take up such works by following ASI guidelines. The team will inspect the temples, assess the damage, prepare estimates and begin the conservation works shortly, he said.

It was built under the rule of Satavahanas, Ikshvakus, Badami Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Kalyani Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Vijayanagara Empire, and the Qutb Shahis of Golconda.
