Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has conducted a surprise check at the Town Planning Section of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
During the surprise check, office records, revenue-related transactions, pending applications and the overall functioning of the section were verified.
Certain irregularities and deficiencies were noticed with regard to supervision and maintenance of records, monitoring of revenue collections, disposal and pendency of petitions, accountability in field enquiries, and the use of official user credentials were found during checking.
Certain deficiencies in providing information and facilitation to members of the public were also noticed.
The surprise check also revealed indications regarding the presence of unauthorized middlemen and mediators allegedly collecting money from members of the public in the name of facilitating official work. Further verification in this regard is underway.
A detailed report on the observations made during the surprise check will be submitted to the State government for taking further action as deemed appropriate, in accordance with the findings of the detailed verification and applicable law.
