Telangana: 120 Pairs Of Young Bulls Distributed To Small Farmers

A committee comprising agriculture and animal husbandry officials was verifying online applications before allotting the Kodelu to farmers: Collector Garima Agarwal

ADILABAD: Vemulawada MLA and Government Whip Adi Srinivas and Rajanna Sircilla collector Garima Agarwal on Wednesday distributed 120 pairs of ‘Kodelu’ (young bulls) free to eligible small and marginal farmers at the Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple goshala at Thippapur in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Adi Srinivas said the distribution was being carried out transparently for eligible beneficiaries.

He said the state government had allocated 40 acres for construction of a modern goshala at Marripalli and added that foundation stone-laying would be taken up soon.

Addressing the gathering, he said the tradition of offering Kodelu to Lord Rajarajeshwara Swamy was unique to Vemulawada and the government had initiated free distribution of the animals to eligible families.

He said officials from the revenue and endowments departments would conduct regular inspections to ensure the animals were used only for agricultural purposes, warning of action in case of misuse.

He added that the distribution would be extended to eligible farmers in Karimnagar and other north Telangana districts.

Collector Garima Agarwal said a committee comprising agriculture and animal husbandry officials was verifying online applications before allotting the Kodelu to farmers.

She urged beneficiaries to treat the animals as prasadam of Rajanna and use them only for agriculture.

Vemulawada Municipal chairman Pulkam Raju, Market Committee chairman Rondi Raju, vice-chairman Rakesh, RDO K.S.B. Kumari, temple EO Ramdevi, district animal husbandry officer Ravinder Reddy, district agriculture officer Afazal Baig, tahsildar Jayant Kumar and municipal commissioner Lokesh were present.
