TEJAC forms steering committee to tackle employee issues
September 1 to be observed as 'pension betrayal day'

Hyderabad: A steering committee of the Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee (TEJAC) was formed on Friday to address the pending issues of state government employees and pensioners. This was decided at meeting of the Telangana employees’ unions held at the TNGOs Bhavan in Nampally.
The steering committee comprises 27 members, representing nearly 200 employees unions. It will be spearheaded by JAC chairman Marri Jagadishwar and secretary-general Eluri Srinivasa Rao.
It was decided to observe September 1 as 'pension betrayal day' to protest against the implementation of CPS (contributory pension scheme) from September 1, 2004, in the place of OPS (old pension scheme). The JAC demanded that the state government restore OPS immediately. Protests will be held at all district collectorates and at Gun Park in Hyderabad.
Protests will also be held in September against the increasing atrocities on women.
A felicitation ceremony will be organised here on September 6 for Prof. M. Kodandaram, who recently took oath as MLC under the Governor's quota.
Jagadishwar said that a united platform has been formed to address the pending issues of employees. He expressed confidence that the government will resolve the issues soon.
Srinivasa Rao said that an executive committee of 100 members will be formed soon, and district-level committees will be reconstituted. He also mentioned that GO 317 has caused several problems for employees. He assured that the JAC will work in coordination with the state government to resolve the issues amicably.
