TB Care, Anti-Drug Drive in Focus at Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla’s Review

Adilabad: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday directed officials to focus on public health, ensure effective treatment for tuberculosis (TB) patients, and promote the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative.
Reviewing public health measures and nutritional support at the Integrated Collectorate in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district headquarters, the Governor said there were 464 TB patients in the district and stressed the need to provide them with proper treatment. He instructed officials to adopt each patient and ensure supply of medicines and nutritional food on a monthly basis.
He noted that many TB patients hesitate to disclose symptoms such as cough and weight loss due to fear of social stigma and discrimination, and urged officials to address such concerns.
The Governor also expressed concern over youth falling prey to drug and narcotic addiction and said efforts should be intensified towards a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative. He suggested involving self-help groups in awareness and prevention activities.
Emphasising quality in development works, he asked engineering officials to maintain strict supervision. He also directed authorities to act against anti-social activities.
District collector K. Haritha gave a presentation on ongoing development and welfare programmes, while superintendent of police Nitika Pant briefed on measures taken to control drug use and maintain law and order.
