Tata Group Offers to Set Up More Hotels in Telangana, Partners in Musi Rejuvenation

Chandrasekharan appreciated the meticulous planning and praised the state government’s approach of promoting its policies, ecosystem and long-term vision rather than merely chasing investments at WEF 2026.

Hyderabad: The Tata Group has announced plans to establish hotels across Telangana, with a special focus on major temple towns such as Medaram, Vemulawada and Bhadrachalam. The country’s largest industrial conglomerate also plans to set up new manufacturing facilities in the state and expressed its interest in partnering with the state government on the Musi River rejuvenation project

The proposals emerged during a meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy-led ‘Telangana Rising’ delegation and Tata Group chairman N. Chandrasekharan on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Wednesday.

Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and senior officials participated in the breakfast meeting, during which the delegation also conveyed the government’s plan to erect a statue of Ratan Tata in Hyderabad as a mark of respect for his contributions to industry and nation building.

The delegation made a comprehensive presentation on the vision, strategy and framework of ‘Telangana Rising 2047’, outlining the state’s long-term roadmap towards becoming a $3 trillion economy.

Chandrasekharan appreciated the meticulous planning and praised the state government’s approach of promoting its policies, ecosystem and long-term vision rather than merely chasing investments at WEF 2026.

Reacting to the CURE, PURE and RARE frameworks and the overall economic vision, the Tata Group chairman said Telangana is performing strongly, particularly in the areas of talent, innovation and infrastructure.

Revanth Reddy recalled the successful collaboration between the Telangana government and Tata Technologies in upgrading 65 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), and said the state now aims to transform government polytechnic colleges into advanced skill centres.

The delegation highlighted the establishment of the Young India Skills University, with Anand Mahindra as Chair of its Board of Governors, and discussed the importance of building a robust skills ecosystem to support future industrial and technological growth.

The Chief Minister sought the Tata Group’s support for upgrading major stadiums in Hyderabad to international standards as part of Telangana’s broader ambition to strengthen India’s sporting capabilities and help the country secure medals at the 2036 Olympics.

Chandrasekharan readily agreed to engage with the proposal, observing that world-class sports infrastructure is essential to harness the immense talent available in the country, while the Chief Minister stressed the need to nurture sports training from an early age.

On hospitality and tourism, Chandrasekharan said that the Tata Group is planning to establish several hotels across the state, particularly in temple towns. The meeting also explored the possibility of setting up a world-class resort along the Srisailam highway, which is undergoing controlled expansion. The Chief Minister pointed out the area’s potential owing to the tiger reserve forest, the Srisailam project and the temple, while Chandrasekharan welcomed the idea and expressed readiness to move forward with the proposal.

The Tata chairman also conveyed optimism about future investments in Telangana in sectors such as AI data centres, semiconductors and electric vehicle manufacturing, stating that the state is well positioned for the next phase of growth due to its strong talent base and infrastructure edge.

Responding to the Chief Minister’s vision of transforming the Musi riverfront and developing a vibrant night-time economy in Hyderabad, Chandrasekharan offered the group’s expertise, noting its experience in water body rejuvenation projects in Rajasthan and Maharashtra. He said the Tata Group would be happy to partner in the Musi project, which the Chief Minister described as a potential economic growth engine for Telangana.
