Task Force Seizes China Manja Worth Rs 2 Lakh in Hanamkonda

The sale and use of China manja are banned as the glass-coated nylon thread poses a serious threat to birds, animals and humans, often causing severe injuries and fatalities, especially to two-wheeler riders.

Warangal: Task Force police on Thursday seized banned synthetic kite-flying thread, popularly known as China manja, worth about Rs 2 lakh and arrested one person in Hanamkonda.

According to Task Force ACP A. Madhusudhan, a team led by Inspector G. Babulal acted on credible information and raided a shop in the Pala Jenda area of Kumarpally. During the operation, police arrested Nanu Anand (55), a local businessman, and seized 65 large bundles and 165 packets of China manja, valued at Rs 2.03 lakh.

The sale and use of China manja are banned as the glass-coated nylon thread poses a serious threat to birds, animals and humans, often causing severe injuries and fatalities, especially to two-wheeler riders.

The accused and the seized material were handed over to Hanamkonda police for further legal action. Police warned traders that strict action would be taken against anyone selling banned kite-flying threads during the season.
