Task Force Committee to Fast Track Road Projects in Telangana

Minister Venkat Reddy stresses inter-departmental coordination; RRR project to begin soon

Hyderabad: The first meeting of the newly-constituted task force has resolved to speed up work on pending road projects in Telangana by resolving inter-departmental hurdles that are delaying National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Union ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) projects in the state.

Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy chaired the first meeting of the task force committee at the Secretariat on Thursday, which lasted over three hours. The meeting focused on issues such as forest clearances, utility shifting, land acquisition, and departmental coordination. The minister directed officials to speedily resolve long-pending clearances related to irrigation, water supply amd high-tension electrical lines, and mining permissions.

Venkat Reddy noted that coordination between departments would be the defining factor in the success of the task force. He said that such reviews would be held regularly to fast-track progress and resolve bottlenecks proactively.

He expressed the hope that work on the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, which he called the “a crown jewel,” would commence within a few months. He said that land acquisition for the northern section was nearly complete, and the upgrade to a six-lane road had slightly delayed the project.

The meeting addressed critical project-specific issues in Warangal-Khammam (NH-163G), the Sitarama lift irrigation greenfield corridor, and the Kalwakurthy-Srisailam elevated corridor. The minister said the intervention of the relevant departments would be sought, including discussions with irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, to push for swift approvals of pending NoCs.

Venkat Reddy reiterated that the government’s priority is state development, not politics. He announced plans to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon to push for speedy approvals of key infrastructure projects.
