Swaminathan Award For ICAR Director Srinivasa Rao For Climate Resilient Farming
The award, instituted in 2004-05, honours agricultural scientists for their contribution to food security.

Hyderabad: The retired Indian Council of Agricultural Research Employees Association has selected Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, director and vice-chancellor of ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, for the Prof. M.S. Swaminathan Award for 2024-25, recognising his work in climate-resilient farming.
The award, instituted in 2004-05, honours agricultural scientists for their contribution to food security. This year’s award coincides with the birth centenary of Swaminathan.
Dr Rao was selected by a committee chaired by Trilochan Mohapatra, with members including Vijay Gupta and Soumya Swaminathan.
He has led initiatives in natural resource management, including scaling conservation technologies across 4 million hectares and contributing to climate adaptation planning at district and village levels.
The award carries a gold medal, citation and Rs 2 lakh. It will be presented on April 18 at MCRHRD Institute, with former vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu as chief guest.
