Sources said ACB officials were questioning the suspended benamis to try and track the many assets

Hyderabad: Suspended DSP Sankireddy Bheem Reddy, arrested by the ACB on Monday following the discovery of ₹200 crore worth disproportionate assets during raids last week, was produced before a court and sent on remand for 14 days to the Chanchalguda central prison. Sources said the ACB would seek his custody to question him on his alleged disproportionate assets.

ACB officials took Bheem Reddy to a government hospital for a medical check after the court pronounced the order. Upon the doctors declaring him fit, they escorted Bheem Reddy to the prison. Immediately following the raids, Bheem Reddy had joined a city hospital citing his history of high BP and cardiac troubles.

Sources said ACB officials were questioning the suspended benamis to try and track the many assets, whose documents they recovered during their raids on Bheem Reddy and his associates.

Meanwhile, it emerged that a rival could have tipped off the ACB about Bheem Reddy’s alleged assets. Sources said Bheem Reddy had lodged complaints against a few officers, who were trying to get their own back, including one who came in the ACB net,

Bheem Reddy joined as a constable 1989 and was promoted to sub-inspector in 1995 and inspector in 2010. He was posted to various police stations in and around the city, including at Narayanguda, Miyapur, Raidurgam as well as in Rangareddy and Sangareddy. He was promoted DSP in 2017.

Sources also said that investigators during their raids hit upon the assets list that Bheem Reddy he had reportedly distributed to his sons and aides ahead of proceeding on a pilgrimage. Among his benami associates were said to be a Home Guard and a senior woman government officer, sources disclosed. He had also completed the formalities of handover of the control of properties, including by providing general power of attorney papers.
Sources said the ACB technical team had gained access to Bheem Reddy’s property data and secured material that could be used as evidence during his questioning.
